With rising energy costs and growing interest in greener heating, more and more homeowners are asking whether heat pumps are really worth the investment.

A heat pump is a low-carbon heating system that works by transferring heat rather than generating it. Instead of burning fuel like a gas boiler, it extracts heat from the air, ground or water and uses it to warm your home.

In England, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers grants of up to £7,500
